TOPIC: Emotion Focused Family Therpay: The Basics
PRESENTER: Dr. Leslee Marcom, Ph.D, CEDS, Senior Clinical Director at Eating Recovery Center
Families and support systems play a crucial role in the treatment of and recovery from eating disorders. Caregivers can be empowered to confidently support their loved ones with the guidance of Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). During this free EFFT tutorial, Dr. Leslee Marcom will introduce ‘the basics’ of EFFT including simple yet powerful skills that can be applied at home. Caregivers (parents, spouses, friends, family), providers and anyone else supporting a loved one in recovery are welcome to attend!
EFFT was initially co-developed by Drs. Adele Lafrance and Joanne Dolhanty as an adjunct to therapy for eating disorders. EFFT has continued to grow in scope and practice and is now also applied to a wide variety of other mental health issues. We thank these field trail blazers for their important work! This event is sponsored by Eating Recovery Center (ERC), Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center, and the Oklahoma Eating Disorders Association. Thank you to all those who helped organize and support this important educational opportunity.
